The last year. I went back to Japan in January of 1996 (7 days after Tricia and I got married, see other picture pages for wedding pictures). I spent almost a month on the most northern island of Japan. The island is called Hokaido and the main city is Sapporo. I had a chance to take a train to Sapporo to see the international snow festival event. It is an event where teams from around the world meet to carve ice and snow sculptures. We actually met the US team on board the train (they had just arrived from another event in China). After I completed my Army active duties requirements in May, I helped a friend who was transferring to Germany drive from Tacoma, Wa to his home in Portland, Maine. I got to spend a week exploring New England. Highlights including seeing the Red Sox at Fenway (they beat the Texas Rangers) and seeing Stephen King's house in Bangor. Overall, an incredible journey for a short 3 year tour. Memories that I am happy to look back upon and share with you.
